Elks provide funds for sheriff office’s canine

The Jefferson Elks lodge made a third charitable contribution in as many weeks.

Members of the lodge presented a check to the Greene County Peace Officers Association last Tuesday, Jan. 19. Sheriff Jack Williams accepted the $2,500 check on behalf of the association. The funds will be used to purchase equipment necessary to support and maintain the new canine officer (dog) recently acquired by the sheriff’s office.

Funding came via a Gratitude Grant provided to the local lodge by BPO Elks USA. Joyce Fister wrote the grant application for the Jefferson Elks.
